The twin sisters, who consider themselves the oldest prostitutes in Amsterdam, decided to retire after working in the field of sex trade for more than 50 years each.

Louise and Martina Fokkens leave the red light district at the age of 70 years. Sister prostitutes are forced to admit that they are too old to sell sex. The mother of four, Louise complains of arthritis, which in some poses causes particular pain.

Martina, a mother of three, admits that it is already difficult for her to attract new customers. There was only one elderly man who still comes to a sadomasochism session once a week. “I can’t refuse him. He goes to me for so long, it’s like going to church on Sundays for him,” she says.

Both women, usually dressed in red outfits, were forced into prostitution when they were not yet twenty years old. Prior to that, they had a difficult relationship with men.

The sisters consider the “Golden Age” of their professional activity to the period until 2000, before prostitution was legalized in the Netherlands. They believe that the legalization of brothels in 2000 did not improve the lives of prostitutes.

Looking back at the “golden years”, Louise noted with nostalgia: “Before, we sat waiting for customers in clothes, today they are completely naked.”

Last year, the twins became the heroines of the documentary "Meet the Fokkens" ("Meet the Fokens"), and most recently released a book on joint sexual exploits "The Ladies of Amsterdam". On retirement, Martin and Louise hope to live off the proceeds of the book and film. During their career, 355 thousand men have served sex industry percussionists.
