Removing unwanted body hair is one of the most difficult cosmetic procedures at home, especially when it comes to the intimate area of a bikini.

And many prefer shugaring - a delicate method with many advantages. However, in order for him to benefit without a shadow of harm, it is important to adhere to certain instructions regarding him. And generally understand the "dessert" method.

The method of removing unwanted hairs with a sticky sweet paste was well known in ancient Egypt and has survived to this day with virtually no change.

The advantages of shugaring over wax, razor or depilatory cream are bright:

  • the natural composition of the product, based on sugar, which virtually eliminates the risks of allergies and the deterioration of the skin;
  • long-term result - up to 3-4 weeks;
  • lack of ingrown hairs;
  • elimination of risks of burns or cuts;
  • minimal soreness (in comparison with wax) and skin injury (in comparison with all other methods);
  • cheapness (at home you can cook pasta from sugar, water and lemon juice).

Regarding the latter, it is worth noting that it is still advisable to use store-based products.

Firstly, only they differ so qualitatively in density and texture, and certain varieties are needed to work with different areas (bikini, legs, face, and so on).

Secondly, it is difficult to get a quality paste at home, but with a poor quality one it may not work out well to remove hair, instead of smooth skin you can get pain and bruises.

Unlike a salon procedure with a skilled craftsman, home shugaring with a good result possible only with a hair length of at least 3-5 mm (!)sufficient for full adhesion to the paste.

Self-depilation of the bikini zone is a painstaking task and in order not to miss the hairs and to be able to assess the quality of the treatment sites, it is advisable, not relying only on your eyesight, to have a mirror with a magnifying lens on hand.

24 hours before shugaring, soft peeling of the bikini area is extremely desirable - due to the removal of dead skin particles and softening of the epidermis, the depilation process will be easier and will be much less painful.

And just before the procedure, it is recommended to stand in the shower or lie in the bath. The fact is that in contact with skin steamed with hot water, sugar paste penetrates the hair follicle better and more easily removes hairs from the place of their growth. After a bath (shower), wipe dry with a towel.

Further preparation consists of two actions:

  1. Wipe the skin in the bikini area with a mild antiseptic, such as lotion, directing the movements of the cotton pad or hands against hair growth, slightly lifting them.
  2. After the liquid dries, treat the skin with a special product with talcum powder or just high-quality baby powder. This needs to be done to reduce injury to the skin (albeit minimally, but this is inevitable) and improve adhesion of the hairs to the paste.

As for how to make the bikini zone shugaring in detail at home, the process differs slightly depending on the chosen technique - manual or bandage.

Manual technique:

  1. Separate from a paste (high density) a piece about the size of a walnut and mash it in your fingers, warming to a supple, very plastic state.
  2. Apply it to a small area of the skin, smearing it tightly, "sticking" and pressing in the direction strictly against hair growth. As a result of the correct movements of the hands, the paste will completely “grab” them and at the same time lift them up.
  3. After 10-20 seconds, grab the sugar mass on one side and tear in the direction of hair growth.
  4. Then you can take a new portion of pasta or use this one more couple of times, depending on how much and well it removes unwanted vegetation.

Banding technique:

  1. Preheat the paste (soft) to 38-40 ° C.
  2. Scoop a small amount with a cosmetic spatula and apply a thin even and narrow layer to a small area to be treated.
  3. Put on top and firmly squeeze, smoothing, a strip of fabric - you can purchase these ready-made or (in extreme cases) cut from white cotton.
  4. After 10-20 seconds, grab the free edge of the strip and tear in the direction of hair growth.
  5. Each fabric strip coated with paste is used once.

At the end of the procedure by any technique, the rest of the paste is washed off simply with warm water.

It is perfectly normal if the skin turns red after shugaring - the natural reaction will pass in a couple of hours. And then you can apply a care product - a nourishing, moisturizing body cream, if desired - with a cooling effect.

It is recommended to continue using it for another 2-3 days.

On these days it is undesirable:

  • wear tight clothing tight to the bikini area;
  • visit the pool, sauna, solarium;
  • play sports and, in principle, physical activity that causes increased sweating.

In order to avoid an allergic reaction to the paste (if it was not previously used in principle), a test should be performed in advance - apply a drop of it to the inner bend of the elbow and wait 40-60 minutes. If there is no rash, itching, redness, then the remedy is suitable.

It is also worth mentioning the pain threshold. It is different for all people, but with its low level, it is recommended:

  • firstly, plan shugaring for a time period from an hour to three days, when, as scientists say, a person is less susceptible to pain;
  • secondly, 1 hour before depilation, drink an anesthetic.

If in the bikini zone there are missing, not removed hairs, then you can apply the paste again, literally 1-2 times. If for some reason it doesn’t work out - piece pieces of vegetation are simply removed with tweezers (naturally, sanitized).

Depilation is undesirable in the days of menstruation.

Also, they refuse it when:

  • diabetes mellitus;
  • many skin diseases (more precisely, a specialist can say);
  • the presence in the bikini area of burns, ulcers, not healed scratches and abrasions;
  • varicose veins in the inguinal region.
