After the repair, there are extra wallpapers that you feel sorry to throw out and do not want to throw on the cabinet. There is a solution - combine business with pleasure. Make the blinds from the wallpaper with your own hands.

DIY wallpaper blinds: features

Venetian blinds are a useful thing. They protect the room from sunlight and from the prying eyes of passers-by. Purchased blinds are expensive, and they will have to be made to order. If you have a piece of unnecessary wallpaper in your house that fits along the length of the window, then you can safely make blinds out of wallpaper with your own hands.

There are several types of window blinds. There are two-fold ones, when two independent canvases fall on one window, there are solid ones in the whole window, there is an accordion, and sometimes it is a roll. An accordion blind will require a longer stretch of wallpaper, so if you have the rest of the wallpaper allows, then get down to business.

DIY window blinds: materials and methods

To make blinds from wallpaper with your own hands, you must have at hand a piece of wallpaper of suitable width and length, a tape or cord, for which you will raise or lower the blinds. You may also need a solid base that will hold the free bottom edge. The last element is not needed for all types of wallpaper, so first you need to decide which version of the blinds you would like to see in your room.

Do it yourself accordion blinds from wallpaper

There are two varieties of single-window accordion blinds. Some are made in one piece, while others are paired independent of one another.

For the manufacture of both types, a piece of wallpaper will be required, twice the length of the window and the width equal to the width of the entire window or one of its wings. You will also need a long tape or cord, for which you can raise and lower the blinds and the plastic retainer on the cord.

Also think about fixing the blinds above the window. If you have the opportunity to fasten the canvas to the nails, then prepare the nails, if not, then there is the option of mounting on a double-sided construction tape. It can withstand a structure weighing up to three kilograms.

Fold the accordion sheet horizontally horizontally, alternately bending equal segments first and back. The width between the bends is determined for yourself by yourself. But do not do them too often, it will not be very beautiful. The size of the segment between the bends from 3-15 cm will become optimal.

Before you fold the sheet with an accordion, you probably already decided what kind of blinds you wanted to see on the windows. Now thread the cord or ribbon and into the wallpaper. In order that the thread does not stretch out of the wallpaper, fix it by tying it with a loop on the last upper bend. On paired single-leaf cord, as a rule, stretch through the middle along the entire length. It looks like this.

If you get wide solid blinds the entire width of the window, then stretch the ribbon or cord along the sides of the wallpaper, backing 15 cm from the edge. If you wish, so that the wallpaper does not sag, you can stretch another ribbon through the center. Thus, you get three mounts.

Fasten the plastic lock on the lower end of the cord, which will adjust the height of the blinds. If the wide blinds sag, then a solid base can be useful here, which will keep the free lower edge. Pass the thread through it as well as through the paper. It will serve as the lower bar.

DIY roller blinds

Another fairly common type of wallpaper blinds are the so-called roll-up blinds. Conventionally, they can be divided into several subspecies, but the manufacturing principle remains the same. The difference is only in the number of tapes fixing the height of the blinds.

For manufacturing you will need: a roll of wallpaper, a roll of satin ribbon, scissors, glue, curtains, a metal tube on which the wallpaper will be wound.

First you need to install the curtain in its rightful place, then measure the distance between the curtain and the windowsill. Unwind the roll of wallpaper and measure the distance that you have obtained by measuring the distance from the curtain to the windowsill, adding ten more centimeters to it (this is necessary for connecting with parts). Next, boldly cut the resulting piece of wallpaper from the roll.

For a more comfortable use of your future blinds, it is recommended to use a metal tube, although you can do without it. Take the tube, glue it with glue and glue the wallpaper to it with the edge that will be located at the bottom of the roller blinds.

While the glue is drying, take a satin ribbon and stick it in the middle of the curtain. Then lower to the windowsill and cut. Perform this operation for the second tape. You should get two ribbons attached in the center of the curtain to the length of the window sill. After the tube has dried, the other end of the wallpaper must be glued to the curtain. This is not so simple, but there is one trick. We will use tapes that until now have already been attached to the curtain (these tapes will be needed to set the height of the blinds).

Tie the lower ends of the ribbons, which are located at the windowsill, into a knot. Then, in the loop obtained, insert the tube with a piece of wallpaper, rolled up so that the tape is in the middle of the tube. Expand the resulting roll to the top to the curtains and stick it to it. So you managed to make the blinds from the wallpaper with your own hands. The height of the blinds can be adjusted using a satin ribbon, tying a knot higher or lower.

Roller blinds can be made as a whole canvas, or can be made of two paired sections.

As another option for fastening the tape, which will adjust the height of the blinds, you can offer an option with rings. It turns out that the tape will be passed through the rings and tied to a stud in the wall. This is an old method, so it is not worth much attention, but it may be of interest to someone.

In the upper part of the wallpaper, along the edge indented from the upper edge of 2-4 cm. And 20 from the lateral edge, insert 3 metal parts, in the form of 8. Such an element can be made independently of thick wire. From the side of the window, tie one end of the tape to the wire ring, loop it through the bottom under the wallpaper and insert the other end of the tape into the front ring.

With the second tape, do the same, and in the third ring, combine and insert both tapes at the same time. By pulling the freely hanging end of the tapes, the blinds will rise, and to fix the height, tie the tapes to the nail in the wall. It needs to be driven in advance.

DIY wallpaper blinds: professional tips

• Do not use very old yellowed wallpaper in the hope that in the craft they will be transformed. Ugly blinds will be visible from the street, so do not spare the recently purchased but no longer needed wallpaper. Believe me, the aesthetic appearance will please you.

• Do not make into the room blinds from wallpapers that do not match the color composition. It is clear that you have only such wallpapers left and blinds need to be done only in this room. Understand that an outsider who does not reside in this room permanently will immediately notice the tastelessly selected blinds. If there is an urgent need to make blinds from wallpaper with your own hands and only into this room, then buy the most inexpensive white wallpapers in the store and create a masterpiece.

• When buying a tape for roller blinds, choose a denser and wider one. She looks homely, especially when tied with a bow.
